Bath City USA Exhibit
Now through January 10, 2010 - Detroit Historical Museum
Mount Clemens was fondly nicknamed Bath City as it was known all over the world as the great health and pleasure resort of Michigan. The healing powers of its mineral baths were known to produce miracle cures. People arrived on crutches and in wheelchairs and literally left dancing. A typical stay of 21 days allowed time to enjoy the many entertainment options and other healthy leisure opportunities that existed during the hey day of Bath City. The bath industry gave way to other forms of industry. Mount Clemens had its own Rose Gardens, Pottery Company, and breweries that brewed both intoxicating and healthful non-intoxicating drinks.
Learn about this interesting piece of local history at an exhibit created by the museum studies students of the University of Detroit. Bath City USA will run from October 24 through January 10, 2010 at the Detroit Historical Museum. The Detroit Historical Museum is located at 5401 Woodward Avenue in Downtown Detroit.
