Michigan Annual XXXVI
Now through February 27 - Anton Art Center
Juror Charles McGee will award over $1500 in cash prizes to the winner of the Michigan Annual XXXVI art competition at the Anton Art Center's opening reception 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM on Friday January 22. The exhibition opens in the Anton Art Center's Main Galleries January 22 and will run through February 27. This exhibition has been a long standing tradition bringing together some of the best artwork across the state.
Two Target Free Family Fun Days will be held in conjunction with the Michigan Annual XXXVI. Sponsored by Target, these drop-in workshops require no reservation and give visitors of all ages a chance to try something new. Target Free Family Fun Days are planned for January 31 and February 28 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Anton Art Center.

5th Annual Fire & Ice Chili Cook-Off & Pub Crawl
6:30 PM - Participating Downtown Establishments
Downtown Mount Clemens will have a fiery start to the annual ice carving weekend with the 5th Annual Fire & Ice Chili Cook-Off and Pub Crawl Fundraiser. The fundraiser kicks of the fun at 6:30 PM.
All proceeds of this event benefit Turning Point and the YMCA. For a $10 donation, participants receive a "taster" chili at each location, souvenir bandanna and score card. The first 300 pre-sale tickets also include a limited edition t-shirt.
Tickets are available at any participating establishment. Participating establishments include: Bath City Bistro, Buffalo Wild Wings, Casa di Colombo / Little Lorraine's, The Engine House, John Barleycorn's, Madison's, Monte's, Orleans Billiards, The Rec' Bowl, Wine Sync, and Your Mothers.

Glengarry Glen Ross
Now through February 14, 2010 - The Box Theatre, Downtown Mount Clemens
Mount Clemens' What's That Smell? is proud to present David Mamet's Pulitzer Prize-wining play, Glengarry Glen Ross. Glengarry Glen Ross follows the lives of four unethical Chicago real estate agents who are prepared to go to any lengths (legal or illegal) to unload undesirable real estate on unwilling buyers.
The cast includes: Doug Clark, Michael Jeffries, Aaron Kurilik, Ben Feliciano, John Iwanski, Brian Rohe, Jeremy Strebendt and a special guest appearance by Macomb County Commissioner 16th District, Carey Torrice. Ms. Torrice joins the cast as a way to raise money for the Michigan Human Society. As tradition with What's That Smell? a percentage of ticket sales go to a local charity. Torrice has chosen the Michigan Humane Society as her beneficiary.
Glengarry Glen Ross runs January 29-31, February 4-7, and February 12-14 at The Box Theatre located at 70 Macomb Place in Downtown Mount Clemens. All Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shows are at 8:00 PM, Sunday matinee shows start at 2:00 PM. Special discounted dinner packages are available at participating Downtown Mount Clemens restaurants, call the box office for more details. Tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for Seniors and Students.

5th Annual Mount Clemens Ice Carving Show
Today through February 7 - Downtown Mount Clemens
Don't miss the 5th Annual Downtown Mount Clemens Ice Carving Show. This is a great opportunity for the entire family to spend time outdoors during the Michigan winter while enjoying this unique show with carving demonstrations throughout the event. The show opens on Friday, February 5 and runs through Sunday, February 7.
Live ice carving demonstrations will be held on Friday, February 5 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM, Saturday, February 6 from Noon until 4:00 PM, and Sunday, February 7 from Noon until 2:00 PM. Public ice carving will take place on the Fountain Stage located on Macomb Place between Walnut and Pine Streets. In addition to live carving, dozens of sculptures will be featured on the sidewalks of Downtown Mount Clemens along Macomb Place and Cherry Street Mall.
New this year, check out the Ice Sculpture Putt-Putt Course. It's a 9 hole miniature golf course incorporating ice sculptures. Hours for the Ice Sculpture Putt-Putt Course are: Friday 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Saturday Noon - 5:00 PM, Sunday Noon - 3:00 PM. The cost is $1 for children, $3 for adults.

1st Annual Chinese New Year Celebration

5:30 PM - 7:30 PM - Monte's, Downtown Mount Clemens
2010 is the year of the Tiger and the perfect time to come out and join in the First Annual Chinese New Year Celebration hosted by the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce. The event runs from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM at Monte's in Downtown Mount Clemens.
Authentic Chinese and Chinese-American dishes will be served from six invited area restaurants including: China Moon, Empire Chinese Restaurant, Golden Harvest, Leong's Restaurant, New Ching Tao Place, and Royal Cafe. Event ticket price includes: 12 course meal with authentic dishes, several children's activities, dragon dance at 7:00 PM, and gifts for all children. Tickets are $7 for children, and $15 for adults.
Monte's is located at 110 Macomb Place in Downtown Mount Clemens.
